Scam Text Quiz

Scam texts are getting harder to spot. Read each message and decide: scam, or probably OK? Every sender and link here is made up for practice. Just for fun, with no prizes.

Got a text like this for real?

  1. Never share a code that was texted to you. No real company, bank or government office will ever ask for it.
  2. Don't tap links in unexpected texts. Go to the company's website or app yourself.
  3. Forward spam texts to 7726 (it spells SPAM) so your Canadian carrier can block the sender, then delete them.
  4. Report scams to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca.
  5. If you already tapped a link or paid, call your bank right away and change any password you typed.
